The Significance of Hari Raya Puasa

Hari Raya Puasa refers to the “Day of Celebration” and is an important festival celebrated in Singapore by the Muslims. This festival marks the end of Ramadan, which marks one month of fasting. The Muslims visit mosques on this day early in the morning for offering prayers followed by visiting graves. In the evening, Takbir is recited in the mosques. Oil lamps are lit in mosques and at homes on the 20th day of Ramadan. Lighting continues till the end.

Hari Raya Puasa is celebrated with great pomp in Singapore. The houses are cleaned and decorated. People prefer spending time with their near and dear ones.
