How to Celebrate International Women’s Day

All month, you’ve probably seen ads and content about women empowerment – well, that’s because March is Women’s History Month with International Women’s Day falling on the 8th.

International Women's Day is a day when the world comes together to celebrate all of the success made by women in terms of economic, social, political, and cultural achievements. It’s also a time for women to support, uplift and show appreciation for each other.

Times have changed significantly since the very first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911. Today in Singapore, International Women’s Day is celebrated with appreciation posts on social media.

However, if you want to make this year extra special, why not partake in the act of gift-giving instead?

Celebrate this Special Day with Gifts

One of the things that you can do to celebrate is to send some gifts to the women that you admire the most. This year where most are having it rough in the pandemic, we should help inspire other another to soldier on.

Don’t know where to start? You could begin with these persons:

1. Mothers

Why wait till Mother’s Day to celebrate motherhood?

You may send some flowers to your mom to tell her that you appreciate the fact that you are gifted with such a strong woman as herself in your life. You may give her anything that expresses admiration and love, like a bouquet of pink roses that has a card attached to it.

2. Sisters

Sisters have an unbreakable bond. Show your sister just how much you look up to her and appreciate having her in your life.

3. A First-time Mother

Alternatively, if you are thinking of using the opportunity to send some much-needed positive vibes to a good friend who just became a mother, a wellness hamper makes a great gift to show your concern and express your support for her.

4. Mentors & Teachers

A good mentor can make the biggest difference in one’s life. If you are just starting out in your career, chances are that you probably have someone guiding you. Use the opportunity to express your heartfelt gratitude and thank them for being patient with you.

Don’t Forget to Attach a Greeting Card

You may then use this card to write anything that you want to tell her, whether it be a simple "Happy Women's Day!" or an encouraging message.

There are many types of greeting cards that are available nowadays and choosing the perfect card for her & writing a touching message are vital in expressing what does she mean to you in your life.

Get a Gift For Yourself

You’ve worked hard, why not take the opportunity to reward yourself?

This International Women’s Day, you may also reward your own self by getting yourself the things that you love the most to value all of the things that you have done in your life.

Perhaps you somehow managed to secure that scholarship, or you finally gotten that promotion you worked so hard for all year. Regardless of the type of success that you achieved in your life, it's important to allow yourself to indulge for some time to minimize the level of stress that you have and to take a moment to appreciate all of the things that you have in your life to learn how to be grateful.

For instance, contact your local florist  to order a bunch of your favourite flowers and arrange them neatly in a vase to bring life and a breath of fresh air to your living space.
